Purposeful Pedagogy
Created with the uninitiated student in mind, Learning & Memory features a number of pedagogical elements to reinforce the narrative and ensure student success:
• Test Your Knowledge questions address some of the more challenging topics to help students practice with and study this material. For instance, the Test Your Knowledge in Chapter 8, helps students distinguish between positive & negative punishment and positive & negative reinforcement.
• Interim Summaries follow the behavioral processes and brain substrates sections to help students review major concepts presented in the previous section.
• Concept Checks ask critical thinking questions that require an understanding of the key material in that section and apply those concepts to a situation. The Concept Checks are applied throughout the chapter at their most meaningful place.
• Key Points & Key Terms. Key Points follow the last section of each chapter and reviews, in bulleted format, the key points from the chapter. Key Terms allow students to easily revisit the key terminology of the chapter.
• Further Reading offers accessible resources for students who wish to delve more deeply into the material. |
