The Museum of Slavery in the Atlantic is designed as a "site of
memory" to the enslavement of Africans in modern times. Designed in
North America for all North Americans (but especially for elementary and
secondary school students and their teachers) the site aims to enhance
public memory of the life experiences and valuable contributions of enslaved
Africans and of the many legacies and tragedies of slavery and the slave
trade.
