        From the American Memory Project of the Library of Congress, these color photographs depict life and culture in the United States. The FSA photos focus on fural areas and farm labor. The OWI photos focus on factories and women employees, railroads, aviation training, and other aspects of World War II mobilization.

        The Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress has compiled life histories written by the staff of the Folklore Project of the Federal Writers' Project for the U.S. Works Progress (later Work Projects) Administration (WPA) from 1936-1940. The site also includes the special presentation, "Voices from the Thirties: An Introduction to the WPA Life Histories Collection."
