Extinction
Once a conditioned association has been formed, how can we get rid of it? The process of unlearning or removing a conditioned association is called extinction.
To extinguish a conditioned association, we need to break the link between the CS and the US.
We do this by repeatedly presenting the CS (the doctor) without the injection or any other painful event (the US).
