Reinforcement
A reinforcer is anything that raises the probability that the behavior that preceded it will occur again.If we repeatedly praise a young boy for making his bed, and he begins to make his bed more often, we could say that the praise acted as a reinforcer for bed-making behavior.
In this case, the praise is positive reinforcement, because it was a pleasant outcome given to the subject after he performed the behavior.
